Vince and Diana, Wedding- Templeton, California

Meeting Diana and Vince for the first time in the studio, I knew they were an extra special couple.  The way Vince looked at Diana, you could tell he was head over heels in love with this beautiful women.  When he spoke, the most gorgeous smile appeared on her face.  And I said... “Whoa say something else Vince.. that’s it... make her smile like that on your wedding day and you will have wedding photos you will adore”.  When their wedding day came, Diana didn’t want to be the center of attention, but she had no choice... She was stunning, and every time Vince was in sight that gorgeous smile just kept coming back.  True expressions like that are priceless... it's what every photographer dreams of.  Those amazing moments happening naturally, capturing the expressions of true love is a true joy.

Diana and Vince were wed in their beautiful backyard in the hills of Templeton. On handmade tables made by Vince himself, they dined and danced on a beautiful summers night with their closest family and friends.

Congratulations Vince and Diana... Vince keep making her smile like that and I have no doubt that the two of you will live happily ever after.

Brittany and Scott, Hammersky Winery Wedding Paso Robles

The Indian Summer temperatures we experienced this fall on the Central Coast made for an amazing autumn wedding for Brittany and Scott.  The backdrop was rolling hills of warm turning grape leaves, large oaks and the glow of the autumn light.  Hammersky Winery is a breathtaking location for any occasion, and a perfect one for Brittany and Scott’s romantic fall wedding under an old oak tree.  We were all blessed to be able to witness such beauty in a couple in love, making life long promises to each other. Witnessing love and life in it’s glory, watching friends and family (and little girls) oohing and awing over the beautiful bride.  What a pleasure to see it all come together, the hard work and ideas of their ideal day... done perfectly.

Brittany and Scott, may your days together always be as warm as the autumn light.

Scott and Samantha, Still Waters Winery Wedding, Paso Robles

Just love, love, love them to pieces.  Jill, Tina and I had an absolute ball shooting Scott and Samantha’s wedding.  It was a perfectly HOT summer day.  But the heat did not put any kind of damper on this wedding party.  All of the guests were so happy to be there even though it was scorching hot.  At one point I thought to myself that the day must be staged.  The Bride was too beautiful, the groom was too handsome, the guests were too in love.. but I pinched myself and it was real.  I was so in love with the color palette that Samatha chose... warm reds, oranges with a backsplash of pale grey chevron fabric, it was striking. If that wasn’t enough there was icing in the cake, a donut cake to be exact... too sweet!  The night was capped off by a beautiful sunset over the vineyards of Paso Robles, a glass of Still Waters Wine and a bag of butter popcorn. Too perfect.

Joe and June, Justin Winery Wedding

I remember walking into the room where June was getting ready to walk down the aisle,  she was so sweet and calm.  June is most adorable little thing, and has such a relaxed happy smile.  She should write a book on how to stay calm, cool and collected on her wedding day.  Because of her relaxed demeanor, June’s true expressions were easy to come by.  She was so happy on her wedding day and her pictures prove it!

I also remember the exact moment that June saw Joe... her face lit up.   She was pleasantly surprised by the way he styled his hair.  He said he did it to surprise her and he wanted to look handsome for her on their wedding day.  And handsome he was, I couldn’t get over the fact that he looked so much like Clark Kent.

June and Joe were wed on the balcony of the Justin Winery Private Estate and then down the grandiose staircase to their dream wedding reception in the barrel room at the Justin Isosceles center.  They ate scrumptious food, sipped fine wine and were toasted and roasted by their closest friends and family.

A special thanks to the staff at Justin Winery, they are always so sweet and accommodating.... and the food is amazing too!

Shilpa and Roy, Big Sur Wedding, Pt. 16

Getting married on Pt. 16 in Big Sur is like getting married on the edge of the world.  The rugged cliffs high above the ocean is breathtaking and is not for the faint of heart.  Shilpa and Roy chose this destination for that very reason.  Guests flew in from all over the world, and as they were driving up the scenic HWY 1, they all were thinking where in the world are we going?  Shilpa and Roy had the grand plan of blowing away their guests with the most unforgettable wedding location... and they did.

At the west most point on the property a very sweet Hoopa was placed where Shilpa and Roy exchanged their vows with two ceremonies, Jewish and Hindu.  Both of their Aunts officiated each of the ceremonies.  During the ceremony the smallest family members sang a special song for the newlyweds. It was picture perfect.

From the very amusing speech that Roy’s sisters gave to the warm colors of the sunset on the pacific, it was an amazing day filled with love and laughter.

Cheers to Shilpa and Roy!  May their love always be as breathtaking as the views from Point 16.

Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Wed at Santa Margarita Ranch

Jeremy and Francesca headed west from Las Vegas for their ideal Vintage Garden Party Wedding here on the Central Coast.  Santa Margarita Ranch was their backdrop to a perfect wedding day. Francesca and Jeremy worked so hard on creating an amazing atmosphere for their special day.  All I can say is  DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS... there were so many adorable DETAILS.  Jeremy, the Mixologist that he is, made some spectacular custom beverages for all to enjoy.  It was all beautifully displayed and even a speciality drink called "Piper's Punch". Named after there sweet dog Piper, who wore an adorable green tutu.  Scattered amongst the crowd were pretty parasols to protect guest from the hot sun of the central coast.  Pretty seating areas for guests to lounge, snowboard guest book, layers of sweets and cakes for guests to enjoy... little vignettes everywhere, they really out did themselves with all of the personal touches.
It is soo nice to see such a sweet young couple so happy and in love.  Jeremy was like a kid in a candy store, with a grin ear to ear all day long.  Francesca had anticipated the romantic train ride around the Santa Margarita Ranch and it was no let down... as soon as the train returned to the barn she was ready to DANCE! The couple finished the evening sharing cupcakes on a vintage couch, enjoying the sweets of their labor.

Casey and Teresa, Santa Margarita Ranch Wedding

Coming from the Bay area Casey and Teresa really got to experience the Country Wedding Experience... Choosing the Santa Margarita Ranch sets the stage for the perfect "country elegant" wedding.  A sweet ceremony under a beautiful 300 year old oak tree.  An outdoor ceremony was the perfect place to have their sweet dog Layla beside them while they exchanged their vows.  A charming garden setting cocktail hour surrounded by knotty olive trees... then off to their sunset photos... an intimate stroll in a dreamy location, the open fields of the Santa Margarita Ranch.  Nothing but rolling hills speckled with picturesque oak trees.   Casey and Teresa picked one of the most romantic settings to spend the first day of the rest of their lives together.
This amazing country elegant wedding was made possible by the following people...

Matt and Elena, Santa Barbara Wedding

Elena chose the most beautiful place to get ready for her big day.. the Bacara Resort and Spa in Santa Barbara.  What a beautiful backdrop for such a beautiful girl.   I remember Jill and I oohing and awing over how amazing Elena looked in her perfect wedding gown.  It looked like a scene from a fairy tale.

And that’s what was soon to come... Elena marrying the man of her dreams, Matt.  They are such a darling couple, so lets just refer to them as Mr. and Mrs. Darling from here on out.

Mr. and Mrs. Darling were wed amongst the vast Santa Barbara sky and an amazing view of the Pacific Ocean.  Who knew Santa Barbara had such big beautiful open spaces, like Elings Park?  Friends and family gathered in a quaint garden setting for an evening of lawn games, open flame smores and plenty of spirited dancing.

Mr. and Mrs. Darling won me over during their first dance... when they danced to one of my  favorite songs... You and I, by Ingrid Michaelson.  The moment was priceless, they swept the dance floor while all of their friends and family huddled around the dance floor not to miss a beat.

With Mr. and Mrs. Darling’s vision this amazing day was pulled off by a wonderful crew of people...

Omni Fresco Catering- Sweetest Crew and Amazing Food

Day of Coordinator- Tracey Bjerllard- Spot on, relaxed while doing outstanding job

Wylie Weddings- Set amazing scene for a perfect day

AMS- Brought the sounds alive and were enjoyed by all

I was thrilled to have been able to meet two such amazing people.  I had a blast shooting their wedding and can’t wait to hear what amazing things the future has in store for them.

Matt and Elena, may you live way up there and your love always pay the bills.

Blessed to be behind

I feel like it was just yesterday that I was writing my blog entry "coming up for air" and here we are again... almost at the end of the wedding season and I am at the same place I was last year... behind on my blog entries.  I have to tell you that I feel so blessed to be this behind.  When Allyson asked me to be her associate photographer, I had no idea that we would have been this busy and it just keeps getting busier.  Jill and I together have been shooting weddings every weekend since May and we have been enjoying every moment.... I wouldn’t change a thing.  We are so lucky to spend our weekends at amazing venues and witnessing the birth of love and life of couples just beginning the first chapter of their lives together. Behind the lens we can capture many things, I am thrilled to be able to capture the day that a couple will remember for the rest of their lives... their wedding day.

Hang tight for my 2012 wedding blog entries, better late than never... right?

June and Joe, Engagement Photographs in Paso Robles Countryside

First of all... How perfectly cute are the names June and Joe for a couple.  I love the sound of it... so darling.

When I first spoke with June about taking their engagement photos, she was a little nervous and expressed her concern about the height difference between her a Joe.  As we rolled up upon our first location to shoot, they were deciding on what shoes to wear.  Digging through their bag of shoes I soon realized the extreme difference in size, Joe has a size 14 and June has a size 4.  Wow! I loved that Joe said they should be on Jerry Springer and we all laughed. At the end of the day, the height and size difference does not matter.. love matters.

Justin Winery Winemaker Dinner, Paso Robles Wine Festival... Featuring Top Chef All Star, Marcel Vigneron

I was invited to shoot Justin Winery's Winemaker Dinner, on the weekend of Paso Robles Wine Festival Weekend. I was happy to do so, because not only am I a fan of Paso Robles Wines, I am a fan of Justin Wines in particular... I have been drinking their wines for many years and they are consistently delicious and live up the the reputation that Justin worked so hard to create. And oddly enough, I  am also a fan of Top Chef.  I have watched most seasons of Top Chef and watch the second season faithfully. The second season just so happen to feature Marcel Vigneron as one if the competitors for the Top Chef title.  When I found out that Marcel was going to be the Guest Chef for the Winemaker dinner, I was elated.  Watching Marcel and the Justin crew whip up an amazing meal for the Justin Wine Society, was a real treat.  I had no idea taking photographs of a bustling kitchen would be so much fun. Looking forward to doing it again soon!

Thank you to the entire Justin Winery event staff for being so sweet and welcoming

and

Thank you to Marcel for your grace of allowing me space to shoot in your kitchen, you were a delight to watch, I was throughly entertained.

Colleen and Carlos Wedding, Denner Vineyards Paso Robles

I'll never forget Jill and I walking into the "getting ready" room at the Carlton Hotel... Colleen and all of her best friends were not only dressed and ready to help Colleen into her dress, but the room was impeccable and they were relaxed and enjoying champagne.  I vividly remember the song "Love Story" by Taylor Swift playing on the ipod... Colleen and all of her friends were singing and dancing in the hotel room.  It was surreal, like a scene from a movie.  It was a priceless moment for Colleen on her wedding day, and priceless for Jill and I to witness and capture in photographs.

One amazing moment... and then another....

After Colleen and Carlos vowed their lives to each other, Carlos swept Colleen by the hand back down the aisle to a private celebration with the most beautiful backdrop that Denner Winery and Vineyards has to offer.  All guests (and photographers) stepped back and left this couple alone to enjoy their first few moments of being a married couple.  It was another priceless moment.

We are truly blessed that Colleen and Carlos chose us to shoot their wedding day.  It's those priceless moments and amazing couples that inspire us to be the best wedding photographers that we can be. Capturing moments and memories that will last a lifetime.

Thank you Colleen and Carlos for being so sweet and amazing.  We truly wish you all the best from this day forward.

And thank you to all of the amazing vendors that helped make this wedding a success...

Hillary and Nick's Wedding at Denner Vineyards and Winery

Hillary and Nick a.k.a Barbie and Ken, I just adore this couple!

Hillary and Nick chose Paso Robles Wine Country for their destination wedding after vacationing here several times.  Coming from Seattle, the warm Central Coast sun was welcomed by friends and family traveling here to celebrate the marriage of Hillary and Nick.  The crowd was dressed to a T and ready to enjoy the lavishes of a Central Coast Winery Wedding. Hillary, Nick and their guests enjoyed dining under the stars, cigars and bocce ball and dancing the night away from one of Hillary and Nick's favorite bands, who traveled all the way from Seattle to play for them.

Hillary and Nick's laid back personalities made this wedding day a breeze and fun for everyone.

I have no doubt that Hillary and Nick will have a lifetime of happiness together and many more vacations her on the Central Coast.

Cheers to you Nick and Hillary, I am so happy for the two of you and thrilled to have you as my friends!

Thank you to the staff at Denner Winery and Vineyards for being so great to work with, you guys are the best!

Erin and Todd, Paso Robles Engagement Photographs

Erin and Todd, not sure where to begin... We shared so many, many laughs. So much that I was kinda surprised that these photos actually turned out clear. They both seamlessly had me in stitches the entire shoot. I had first met Erin in the studio the morning we left for the photography convention in Las Vegas. It was early... it felt like the crack of dawn for the both of us. Erin was sweet and adorable, I liked her instantly. After the consultation I remember thinking even if she doesn't book me to shoot their wedding, I was happy to have met her even if it was for just an hour. Todd was unable to meet with us but when Erin spoke of him it was so endearing...  she said how sweet, hilarious and fun loving he is.  I was just dying to meet him. And when we finally met, he met her description to a T. What an adorably fun couple that will have a life time of laughs together. I am so looking forward to having more great laughs on their wedding day.

Teresa and Casey, San Luis Obispo Engagement Photographs

I have been thinking a lot lately about the people we chose to surround ourselves with.  I have been making a conscious effort to be around those who lift me up and enrich my life somehow.

While shooting Teresa and Casey's engagement photographs, I noticed a sweet silence about them.  They somehow, without many words, lifted each other up and enriched each other.  I know sometimes it hard for people to be the focus of attention, getting their picture taken in an intimate situation can be challenging.  I feel like Teresa and Casey rose to the occasion, even though they may have felt unsure about how to look or pose, once they relaxed... took comfort in each other... made each other laugh,  that's when the real magic began. When those true expressions were revealed.  I feel like their photographs speak of their trust and love for each other.  I am happy to witness such a relationship and glad to get the opportunity to capture more of their true expressions for each other on their wedding day.

Matt + Elena, Paso Robles

Matt and Elena chose the wide open fields of Paso Robles to take their engagement photographs.  Elena hit the mark with her perfectly pretty blouse that was complimented by the almond blossom backdrop and her sweet Antropologie dress tied right into their romantic walk through the Paso Robles oak filled hillsides.... Matt's smile and charm was the cherry on top.

The company of such a perfectly sweet couple and shooting their engagement photographs was a delightful way to spend a warm spring afternoon.

Matt and Elena,

It was wonderful to meet you and I am looking forward your homestyle Santa Barbara wedding coming up this Summer. Can't wait to capture your vows, fun spirited lawn games and everything in between.

Francesca and Jeremy, Neon Museum Engagement Photographs

This time of year is one of my favorites, not only that here on the Central Coast the hills start to turn green and the almond blossoms flourish.  A glimmer of spring is upon us... the warm air and sweet smell of budding spring is intoxicating.  This is also my favorite time of year, because this is when most of our couples choose to do their engagement photographs.  The engagement photo sessions are one of my most favorite part of being a wedding photographer. If gives me and the couple an opportunity to slow down, relax and get to know each other before the busy BIG day.

Francesca and Jeremy were no exception, the time we spent with them shooting their engagement photographs was priceless!  First, Francesca and Jeremy were an adorably sweet couple, the neon museum was an unique venue to shoot and the opportunity to shoot beside the amazing gals at Allyson Magda Photography (Allyson and Jill, it’s an honor to work with such amazing photographers and such amazing friends)... what a blast!  The stars aligned that clear and sunny afternoon in Las Vegas and we captured the charisma between Francesca and Jeremy amongst the vintage lights of Las Vegas.

Francesca and Jeremy... May your wedding day be as sweet as you are.

Samantha and Scott Engagement Photographs, Cambria

Samantha and Scott had been looking forward to their engagement shoot for sometime and of course the weekend we planned to do their shoot, it rained here on the Central Coast.  Samantha and Scott were bound an determined not to have the unpleasant weather interrupt their day of romantic photographs.  So on this blustery, windy day we took those shots that they so long awaited.  I'm glad we beat the weather and didn't let the weather beat us... and had fun downtown Cambria, hiked the Hearst State Beach trail and had a snack and a visit with their precious dog Wilbur at Sebastian's in San Simeon.

I was happy to have the opportunity to get to know Samantha and Scott before their wedding day, and I’m looking forward to shooting more adorable photographs of them when the weather is warm at their sunny September wedding!

Ashley and Carlos, Dolphin Bay Resort Wedding, Pismo Beach

70 degrees and sunny in January! Ashley and Carlos were blessed with the most gorgeous wedding day. You couldn't have dreamt of a better setting... Warm, sunny, clear skies over looking the pacific ocean- it was the perfect backdrop for the perfect couple. Ashley and Carlos are one of those couples that all wedding photographers hope for.

I had not had the opportunity to meet Ashley and Carlos before their big day and I was excited to finally meet them in person.  I was thrilled that Ashley was not only the sweetest thing but absolutely adorable to boot!  And then I met Carlos... Handsome, happy and sweetest guy to boot!

I think Ashley and Carlos were my most adventuresome couple to date. Ashley willing to hike down a steep cliff trail in her wedding gown to get those amazing sunset shots... and Carlos right behind her making sure his new bride was well taken care of.  They were awesome and almost too good to be true.

Thank you Ashley and Carlos for being so sweet and an amazing couple.  Cheers, you deserve a lifetime of happiness together!

On a side note, Thank you Jill for being sooo wonderful... I know Ashley and Carlos loved working with you as much I did. I'm so fortunate to work beside such an awesome photographer and friend. I'm thrilled we get to work together as much as we do.  Looking forward to shooting beside you in the 2012 season and beyond!

Julianne and Kevan, Private Beach Wedding on California's Central Coast

I think Julianne and Kevan have the best love story.   Their story tells one of love lasting the test of time. During good times and bad, through separation and change, love finds it's way home.  When I first met Julianne and Kevan in the studio I saw a spark between them. When there wedding day came those sparks turned into fireworks, they were soooo happy and soooo in love.  Kevan couldn't stop looking at her and telling everyone can you believe this is my wife?!  Julianne looked at him with a twinkle in her eye... this was absolutely a match made in heaven and they were destined to be together.  My heart is filled with joy to see how good things come to those who wait.  With old memories and new, the future is bright. I was happy to have captured those memories of their wedding day, the memories that will last a lifetime.

Julianne and Kevan... May everyday be bright and sunny, enjoy the rest of your lives together!
